Politics

Foreign affairs

Sarethan practices a non-interventionist and non-aligned foreign policy. It is not part of any major ideological bloc, and instead is a leading member of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).

In the latter part of the 20th century, Sarethan maintained a close relationship with League of Ordic Communists. A considerable share of Sarethan's trade was with Orcom nations, several of which had preferential access to Sarethan's domestic market. Other important areas of cooperation included arms sales, ideological affiliation and a degree of implicit political assistance. However, Sarethan remained strictly separate from other Orcom nations, retaining near total political autonomy, and avoiding open hostility with Orcom's rivals, such as Khornera and Shirakawa. Sarethan was also a strong anti-colonial voice on the global stage, expressing ardent support for the national sovereinigty and various independence movements. Successive Prime Ministers gave strong criticism of empires, imperialism and colonialism. After an abortive attempt to gain nuclear weapons, it also became a proponent of nuclear-disarmament.
